1948 Jaguar Mark IV
$120,000This 1948 Jaguar Mark IV was purchased in Phoenix, AZ and was once shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance car show. It has the original 3.5 liter engine and a 3-speed transmission. It will still stop with the original mechanical brakes.
This is a very nice maroon and red 1948 Jaguar Drophead Coupe. The #1 book is $149k and one in #2 condition is valued at $104k. The current value of the subject automobile is $120k and could be increased to the #1 level for roughly $10k if desired. The car can be seen in north Colorado Springs by appointment.
Jaguar Mark 4 drophead coupes are based on the company’s pre-war 1940 model with a three-and-a-half liter or 213 cubic inches overhead valve six sounder engine and dual carburetors developing 125 horsepower. This 3670-pound convertible was capable of speeds nearing 90 miles per hour and between 1945 and 1948 just 560 Jaguar Mark 4 drop head coupe A’s were produced, selling at the time for $2419 dollars the equivalent of nearly $25,000 today. This was certainly the top-of-the-line automobile when it came out.
The prices seem to be going up. Recent sales are in the $140-$160k range at auction.
